The Holy Mass
The heart of our life together is the celebration of the Holy Eucharist — the Mass — each Sunday at 10:00 AM.
“We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies.” — Prayer of Humble Access
We worship according to the classical Anglican liturgy, using the traditional language and forms that have shaped Anglican worship for centuries. Our services include:
- The Liturgy of the Word — Old Testament, Epistle, and Gospel readings, followed by a sermon
- The Liturgy of the Sacrament — The Great Thanksgiving, the consecration of bread and wine, and Holy Communion
- Traditional hymns drawn from the Anglican hymnal tradition
Why Liturgical Worship?
Liturgical worship may come as a surprise to people unfamiliar with structured worship. As C. S. Lewis wrote:
“Every service is a structure of acts and words through which we receive a sacrament, or repent, or supplicate, or adore. And it enables us to do these things best — if you like, it ‘works’ best — when, through long familiarity, we don’t have to think about it. As long as you notice, and have to count, the steps, you are not yet dancing but only learning to dance.”
The liturgy is not a performance. It is a pattern of worship tested by centuries of Christian practice — one that frees us from the tyranny of novelty and allows us to enter more deeply into the presence of God. When the form is familiar, the heart is free.
The Sacrament of Confession
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is available by appointment. In the Anglican tradition, confession is “all may, none must, some should.” If you would like to make a confession or simply talk with a priest, please contact Fr. Taylor to arrange a time.
Anointing and Healing
We offer the Sacrament of Unction — anointing and prayer for healing — after Sunday Mass. This ancient ministry of the Church continues Christ’s compassion for the sick and suffering. All are welcome to receive anointing, for themselves or on behalf of loved ones.
Holy Days and Seasonal Services
We observe the traditional Western liturgical calendar, including:
- Advent and Christmas
- Lent, Holy Week, and Easter
- Ascension, Pentecost, and Trinity Sunday
- Saints’ days and other feasts as appointed
Special services for Holy Days are announced on our Events page and through our parish communications.
Join Us Online
We are eager for you to join us in worship — there is no substitute for being present in the Body of Christ. But if you cannot be with us in person, please enjoy the liturgy through our Facebook livestream. We are glad to share the beauty of our worship with those who are homebound or at a distance.
Music
Music is an integral part of our worship. We sing traditional hymns from the Anglican hymnal tradition, accompanied by organ music. On most Sundays, we also incorporate chanting as part of our praise of God — an ancient form of sung prayer that connects us to the worship of Christians across the centuries. Our music is chosen to support and enhance the liturgy — not to entertain, but to lift the heart to God.
